ONLINE PRIVACY POLICY FOR REALTORS®
Most REALTORS® who collect consumer information through their Web sites must now post their privacy policies online. To help REALTORS® fall into compliance, C.A.R.'s Legal Department has released a new memorandum titled Online Privacy Laws Affecting REALTORS® . This legal memorandum not only explains the new requirements, but it also provides a sample Privacy Policy for REALTORS® to post on their Web sites. The legal memorandum also discusses other online privacy laws that may affect your real estate practice.

In considering whether to post a privacy policy, REALTORS® should bear in mind that, regardless of the law, posting a privacy policy is an excellent business practice. It aptly demonstrates your ability to address your clients' privacy concerns, and your professionalism in handling their affairs.
